I can’t help myself…I love big dogs.

Whenever one comes to visit The Drake Center(and that happens a lot) and I am not either sleeping (and that is often) or eating then I love to visit with the big dogs.  I like their energy and their confidence.  I enjoy rubbing myself on their legs.  Some of these big dogs seem to enjoy my company, some not so much and many are quite surprised by having such a handsome cat rub on their legs.   For the most part dogs and cats really do enjoy each others company.  There are a few dogs that group me with the rabbit and squirrel population and try to eat me.  The other day I was sound asleep on the cat scale in the hallway when a big dog jumped up and grabbed me with the intent to do bodily harm.  Thankfully, I am well endowed with a luscious coat of fur and all he got was a mouthful of fur.  Nonetheless, I was pretty irritated to be removed from my sleeping perch.

So for those of you who have a dog and are considering getting a cat, you can be pretty certain that we will all play nice at home.  And some of us will even become really good friends.  I would love to see the pictures of your dogs with their buddy cats.  So send your favorite cat/dog pictures to the Drake Center and we can post them on Facebook with the title “Binky’s friends and their cats”.

What I like to do when everyone is busy…

What is your favorite type of cat food?  I was thinking about this one morning and I realized that there are many different types of cat food at the Drake Center.  When Lorraine and Jackie were occupied helping out our clients, I decided to do a sample test of the various types of dry food in the cat food closet.  Of course all of the foods in the closet are Perscription Science diet, but some of them are pretty darn good.  I enjoyed the crunch of TD kibble, the flavor of KD and my favorite ZD.  Any of you cats lucky enough to be fed ZD for skin or GI problems; well you have it the best.  Secondly I wondered if each bag of ZD would taste the same.  The only way to know was to bite a hole in each bag and then taste some kibble from each bag.  Eventually, I was caught by Rachelle.  She decided to scold me by putting me in the office.  Whatever!  It was worth it!

Who likes pictures?

You may notice my new picture on my blog.  If you even knew what I had to put up with to have that picture taken, you would call the ASPCA and report cat abuse.  I had my morning routine interrupted not once but several times.  First, I had to be in a group picture with all the staff for the Drake Center.  Then Cody the photographer was trying to get me to smile and not have my usual cranky irritated cat face.  Well, I do not smile and I certainly do not behave unless you get the treats out.  Eventually, Dr. Drake got out the greenies and while I did not smile, I did cooperate for about 10 seconds.   A word of advice to all you cats out there having your pictures taken and videos for youtube, make sure you get paid for your time – either in cash or fresh fish.  Do not perform for anything less.  I hope you all enjoy my new blog picture and be sure to check out my photos on Facebook.  I am very photogenic.  I should have been a model but I do not like to travel.   Enjoy!
